Social ResponsibilityA Positive Impact SOS Survival Products puts a priority on the importance of corporate social responsibility - CSR. With our feet firmly planted in Van Nuys, CA, we have been able to branch out and support the community that has generously supported us since 1989. Our efforts include Free Preparedness Trainings, an Annual Canned Food Drive, support of the Stansport Friends & Family Campout, a Battery Recycling Program, a Cardboard Recycling Program, a LED Lighting Program and more. We strive to have a constant positive impact. Environmental EffortsAs a business that promotes emergency preparedness, we believe that environmental sustainability will help contribute to a greener planet. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint with the following sustainable activities: Cardboard Recycling, Battery Recycling, Office Recycling, Reduce Paper Mailings and installation of energy saving LED Lighting. Employees are encouraged to adopt positive methods at home. We feel these actions will lessen the negative impact on the environment. Battery Recycling ProgramSingle use batteries contain a number of materials that are recyclable. Don’t throw batteries in the trash. SOS started a battery recycling program, offering our location as a home-base for used battery collection. Our collection bucket is conveniently located in our retail store. Quarterly, we take the batteries to be recycled preventing them from ending up in landfills. Over the years, we have recycled thousands of pounds of batteries. Annual Food DriveOne of our most rewarding contributions over the years has been our partnership with MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity) in the San Fernando Valley. MEND’s services provide food and clothing for the most vulnerable in our community, free medical, dental and eye care for the uninsured, as well as services for the homeless. Our annual food drive began in 2013 and continues to this day. Each year, SOS sets aside 3 months to encourage food donations. We incentivize the donations by offering merchandise discounts to customers that donate a set amount of canned food items. The program helps stock MEND’s distribution efforts and gives our customers a reason to rotate their emergency food supply before it expires. |
